INDIANA – County by country unemployment rankings have been released by the Indiana Department of Workforce Development.

According to those numbers counties here in our area account for five of the top ten with the most unemployed Hoosiers.

Vermillion County with an unemployment rate of 5.9% continues to have the highest percentage of unemployed residents out of all the 92 counties in the state.

Sullivan County is ranked 3^rd with a rate of 5.2%, Greene County is 5^th at 4.9%, followed by Owen County in 6^th place also at 4.9% and the Vigo County is 7^th at 4.8%.

Parke county is at 17^th with a rate of 4.2%

Clay county is at 20^th with a rate of 4.1%

Putnam county is at 35^th at 3.9%

The county with the lowest unemployment in the state is LaGrange at 2.8%.

The state average is 3.7%
