Vigo County Schools Revise Lice Policy Again

VIGO COUNTY, Ind – The Vigo County School Corporation has done an about face on its head lice policy.

It has been common practice for years that students with lice were sent home,

In August, the district ended its “no nit” practice, which required a child to be free of nits before returning to school.

Now, in a reversal of policy students with live lice will be sent home for treatment, unless a school nurse determines the student should remain in school.

Once treated at home, students could then return to school the next day and then they will be checked by the health assistant or school nurse.
