Putnam County Man Sentenced For Shooting At Officer

PUTNAM COUNTY, Ind – A Putnam County man has been sentenced to 20 years in prison for shooting a police officer.
50 year old Jeffrey Hunter pleaded guilty in March to attempted murder and has been sentenced to 20 years in prison and six years probation.
In the December, 2016 Hunter was being sought by police in connection with a theft at a Greencastle business.
Officer Luke Brown approached Hunter at his rural Putnam County home and that is when Hunter shot Brown in the chest with a shotgun.
Brown’s body armor saved him from serious injury.
Brown returned fire, wounding Hunter.
