VIGO COUNTY, Ind – Police are continuing their investigation into a death in Western Vigo County.

The Vigo Co. Sheriff’s Office received a call Sunday evening about a body in the water near 11000 Block of Hollingsworth Place in West Terre Haute. That is near Shirkieville.

Deputies found a white male face down in the east end of the lake with a kayak floating nearby.

Several first responders in the area helped in the recovery of the man.

An autopsy was performed Monday morning and the cause of death was determined to be likely due to drowning as there was no trauma to the body.

Identification of the deceased is pending until all family members can be notified.
