DRIVER RUNS AFTER BEING STOPPED FOR RUNNING A RED LIGHT

Terre Haute, Ind. – Yesterday afternoon Indiana State Police Trooper Rondell Shelton observed a white Lincoln run a red light at 3rd and Margaret in Terre Haute.  The car nearly collided with the Troopers cruiser.  The trooper initiated a traffic stop and when the Lincoln pulled over and came to a stop the male driver exited the vehicle and ran.  The female passenger in the car identified the driver as Corey A. Akons, 34, of Terre Haute. Akons had several outstanding warrants.  When Akons was located he ran again and this time a taser was used to subdue him.  Akons was taken into custody, checked out at the hospital then taken to jail.
